About the CL-215
The Canadair CL-215, known as the “Super Scooper,” was purpose-designed for aerial firefighting. It can scoop 1,400 gallons of water from a lake in just 12 seconds while skimming the surface, then drop the load on forest fires. First flying in 1967, the CL-215 and its successor the CL-415 remain in active firefighting service worldwide. The amphibious hull, high wing and twin-engine layout make it one of the most distinctive aircraft flying today.
Construction
Traditional balsa construction. The twin-engine, amphibious configuration makes this an advanced build. At 76 inches wingspan, this is a large, impressive model. Suitable for experienced builders looking for a challenging and rewarding project.
