About the Chipmunk
The DHC-1 Chipmunk was designed by Wsiewolod Jakimiuk at de Havilland Canada and first flew in 1946. It served as the primary trainer for the Royal Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force, and numerous other air forces. Over 1,280 were built, and many remain in civilian hands today. The low-wing, tandem-seat configuration and its elegant lines make it a popular subject for scale model builders. Also available in 40-inch and 102-inch 1/4 scale versions.
