DHC-1 Chipmunk 1/4 Scale Model Plans – 102 Inch Wingspan

A large-scale, impressive 1/4 scale Chipmunk model with a commanding 102-inch (8.5 foot) wingspan. This is a serious scale model project for experienced builders who want maximum detail and realistic flight performance.

Plan Details

• Wingspan: 102 inches (1/4 scale)
• Construction: Traditional balsa-type construction
• Power: Combustion engine (petrol or glow)
• Type: Giant scale RC model aircraft

Why Giant Scale?

At 1/4 scale, this Chipmunk model is large enough to include fine scale details that smaller models cannot replicate. The larger size also produces more realistic, scale-like flying characteristics – the model flies more like the real aircraft. Giant scale models are always crowd favourites at flying events and model shows.

Construction

This is an advanced build requiring experience with large model construction. The 102-inch wingspan demands a large workspace and careful structural engineering. Suitable for experienced builders. Also available in smaller 51-inch and 40-inch versions.
