Wooden Boat Plans Bundle — Five-Volume Vintage Compilation

The definitive wooden boat plans bundle

Five complete construction manuals delivered as separate downloads, spanning pre-1929 public-domain classics and modern community-shared build references. If you want one comprehensive wooden-boat library for amateur build projects, this is the package.

What’s included

1. Boat Building Manual — comprehensive woodworking-style reference covering construction methods, materials, fastenings, tools and finishing
2. Boat Building (Bear) — full vintage manual on wooden boat construction, scanned in the community archive collection
3. Nine Motorboats and How to Build Them (1913) — pre-1929 PD classic with complete building plans and instruction for 9 wooden motorboat designs
4. Motor Boats, Hydroplanes, Hydroaeroplanes — Construction and Operation (1917) — pre-1929 PD self-instruction manual for amateur boat builders
5. Stephens, Canoe and Boat Building: A Complete Manual for Amateurs (1889) — the classic 19th-century wooden boat construction reference, fully PD

Construction methods covered

• Plank-on-frame traditional carvel construction
• Lapstrake (clinker-built) hulls
• Strip-plank construction
• Cold-molding / epoxy-laminated hulls (in the modern manuals)
• Lofting and offsets — reading and translating table-of-offsets into shop drawings
• Steam bending of frames and stems
• Hardware, fastenings, caulking and finishing

Who this is for

Amateur boat builders at any level — the 19th-century manuals teach foundational technique that has not changed; the modern references add power-tool-era methods and current materials. Also useful to maritime historians and traditional-craft enthusiasts.

About these documents

Three of the five PDFs (1889, 1913, 1917) are unambiguously public domain in the US (published before 1929). The two modern build manuals are community-shared on the Internet Archive in the long-standing “boatbuildingmanual” collection. Plansforu.com supplies these scans as builder reference materials.
