About the Airtruk
Designed by Luigi Pellarini and manufactured in Australia by Transavia, the PL-12 Airtruk was designed for aerial top-dressing (crop dusting) with the pilot sitting above a large hopper that could carry fertiliser, seed or spray. The twin-boom configuration with a rear-mounted pusher propeller gave unobstructed forward vision and allowed easy loading of the hopper from a truck. The Airtruk also appeared in the 1985 film “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.”
Construction
Traditional balsa construction. The twin-boom layout adds interest and challenge to the build. The unusual configuration makes this a standout model at any flying field. Suitable for intermediate to advanced builders.
