About the Shackleton
The Avro Shackleton was developed from the famous Lancaster bomber lineage and served as the RAF primary maritime reconnaissance aircraft for four decades. The MR3 variant featured a tricycle undercarriage, wing-tip fuel tanks and improved crew accommodation. With its four Rolls-Royce Griffon engines, it was one of the last large piston-engine aircraft in military service.
Construction
Traditional balsa construction. The four-engine configuration makes this a more advanced build requiring careful alignment and matching of powerplants. Recommended for experienced model builders. The 61-inch wingspan produces a substantial model with excellent visual presence.
